The SBS Bank Southland Stags have strengthened their forward pack with the signing of breakout NSW Waratahs player Clem Halaholo for the 2026 NPC season.

Halaholo arrives in Southland after an outstanding 2026 Super Rugby Pacific campaign, where he established himself as a regular starter for the Waratahs. A powerful ball carrier and imposing physical presence, the talented forward adds valuable versatility to the Stags squad with his ability to play at both lock and loose forward.

The 2023 Junior Wallaby has enjoyed a rapid rise through Australian rugby. After progressing through the NSW Waratahs Gen Blue pathway and making his first grade debut for Sydney University, Halaholo forced his way into the Waratahs environment. Having responded strongly to early setbacks in his professional career, he seized his opportunity in Super Rugby AUS before carrying that form into a breakout Super Rugby Pacific season, highlighted by a try on debut and consistent performances throughout the year.

Stags Head Coach Scott Eade said Halaholo's versatility and physicality would make him a valuable addition to the squad.

"Clem has shown throughout the past 12 months that he's capable of performing consistently at Super Rugby level. He's a powerful athlete who carries the ball strongly, works hard around the field and gives us genuine flexibility with his ability to play both lock and loose forward.
