Rugby Southland is pleased to announce a 40 strong group of young male and female players for the 2023 Ralph Moir Ltd Pathways programme which includes the male 'Pre Academy' and female 'Future Hinds' group.

The group was selected from the Muster sessions that look place over three days across Southland earlier this week, which allowed players to show their potential through various drills run by a mixture of current Stags training staff and Southland representative coaches. 

Rugby Southland Academy & Pathways Manager Scott Eade is excited to continue to develop those in the programme, and welcomes the new year one members.

"The group excites me, there is a real mix of young talent from our 2022 Supreme Siteworks U16 squads and returning members from the I Hire U18 and Supreme Siteworks U18 Girls girls team who have made some pleasing process over the summer. We'd also like to acknowledge and encourage those players not selected to continue sharpen their antlers and rip into their 2023 rugby campaigns."

Pathway Members will continue and off field development, with many airmarked to shine in the upcoming Phillips Group Southland Representative Season later this year. 

As part of the testing process, two new Rugby Southland Bronco Records were set, with a 4.23 from Jimmy Taylor and Olivia Gill setting a 5.05. These records are for the union as a whole, including the Southland Stags High Performance Programme, an impressive feat to celebrate.
