Rugby Southland are proud to announce the selection of young rugby talents for the upcoming Ralph Moir Limited Rugby Southland Musters. The three-day event will be held in Winton, Gore and Invercargill from February 13th to 15th, and will provide a platform for schools to showcase their most promising U16- U18 male and female rugby players, many of which were identified through the 2022 Phillips Group Southland Representative Rugby Programme.  

Rugby Southland Pathways Manager and former Southland Stag, Scott Eade, will be leading the musters, providing expert coaching and guidance to help the selected players reach their full potential.

The event marks an exciting step in the development of the Pathways Programme, a key part of the newly supported Academy Programme which will include a male and female pre-academy group, supported by local businessman Don Moir of Ralph Moir Ltd. The musters are a crucial component of the programme and will be used to identify the most promising and dedicated players who will move on to further training and development.

The selection of these young players marks a significant moment in their rugby journey and is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and potential. We are confident that they will go on to make a lasting impact in the sport and we wish them all the best as they embark on this exciting journey.

Sessions will cover an outline of the Rugby Southland Pathways Programme, baseline conditioning testing, rugby specific technical & unit skills and non-contact game scenarios. All coaches involved in teenage rugby are encouraged to attend and observe.
