Rugby Southland is pleased to announce the appointment of Cassie Watt to its esteemed Board of Directors. With a rich history deeply intertwined with the sport of rugby, Cassie brings invaluable expertise and passion to her new role.

Cassie Watt's journey with Rugby Southland has been marked by dedication and achievement. With a background in teaching at Myross Bush School, Cassie's love for rugby blossomed early on. Her tenure as a referee and referee development manager has been illustrious, punctuated by milestones such as officiating at the Test Level and serving as a Farah Palmer Cup Referee. Through her various roles, Cassie has not only contributed to the development of referees but has also been a driving force in fostering the growth of rugby within the community.

Her appointment to the Board of Directors heralds a new chapter for Rugby Southland, one marked by fresh perspectives and unwavering commitment to the sport's advancement. Cassie's insight and leadership will undoubtedly prove instrumental in supporting the union towards a prosperous future.

In tandem with Cassie Watt's appointment, Rugby Southland bids farewell to Ian Harrington, who has decided to step down from his role on the Board after several terms as Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. Ian's contributions to Rugby Southland have been invaluable, particularly in steering the union towards financial stability. Under his stewardship, Rugby Southland transitioned from insolvency and debt to New Zealand Rugby to a financially robust organization with significant reserves. Ian's legacy will endure as a testament to his dedication and strategic acumen.

Current Board members Glen O’Connor and Aloma Williams who terms expired, have reapplied for continued directorship and were successful in their applications, we welcome them back and appreciate the skills and commitment they bring to the role.
