The Southland Women's programme has been reestablished to give female players a pathway to higher honours through representative rugby. In 2021 due to the earlier FPC season, Southland Women played a home and away fixture against Otago Spirit Development with an eye to playing against some FPC level competition in 2022. The team is coached by experienced Premier and Representative coaches Dayna Cunningham and Ben McHugh.
