Two of Southlands best outside backs are signed for the 2021 NPC Season with the SIT Zero Fees Southland Stags.

Rory van Vugt who has ties with the ENC Barbarians is back this season, however not before taking up an opportunity to play in the USA’s Major League Rugby competition. Rory, 23, will re join the SIT Zero Fees Southland Stags later this year for his fourth season.

Joining van Vugt is Pirates Old Boys outside back Isaac Te Tamaki, who will also be returning for his fourth season in the Maroon jersey. Isaac first moved South in 2018 and has since made Southland his home. For coach Dale MacLeod these two signings are a key for a more destructive backline.

“Last season due to injury we found ourselves having to shuffle players around, but this year not only are we looking to keep boys around for continuity, but we are looking for new talent to boost our back line’s depth.”

“Having Isaac and Rory back will bring experience and a trust that has been developed over the last three seasons”.
