Solomon Alaimalo Signs with SIT Zero Fees Southland Stags

Rugby Southland and The SIT Zero Fees Southland Stags are excited to announce Highlanders outside back Solomon Alaimalo has signed with the SIT Zero Fees Southland Stags for the 2021 Season.

Alaimalo, the older brother of Stags Flanker Charles Alaimalo, has previously played with the Chiefs in Super Rugby, as well as NPC with Northland, Tasman and most recently Waikato.

The former St Bede’s College student has made an impressive start with the Highlanders, coming off the bench, and punching holes through the defence in their convincing win over the Hurricanes last Friday. Solomon has been named to start in the number 15 jersey for the first Super Rugby Aotearoa match of 2021 against the Crusaders in Dunedin tonight.

Head Coach Dale MacLeod is thrilled Solomon has chosen to play in the South.

“He’s a player that any union would be happy to sign up in a heartbeat.  We are really excited about getting him into our setup. Solomon will add a new dimension to our attack this season. It’s also a great opportunity for him to play alongside his brother Charles, which is pretty special.”

MacLeod says the signing has been in the pipeline for some time.

"To be fair this is something I have been working on with Solomon ever since I started with Rugby Southland. It reinforces to me that we are starting to create an environment in the deep South that quality people want to be part of."

Solomon will join the SIT Zero Fees Southland Stags in July for preseason.
