NEW REFEREES NEEDED

The recruiting of new referees into the Southland Referees’Group is vitally important.

For the continued success and future of Southland Referees, we need to continue to recruit new referees every season. Each year there is the odd retirement, as well as a number of referees who transfer out of the Province with work opportunities. This leaves a huge hole to fill with new recruits, to ensure we can continue to referee games at least down to Under 11 level, as well as touch judge all Premier and Division 1 games each weekend. The retention of existing referees is equally important.

Any referee who may be considering retiring or resigning should contact Tony Kelly immediately, for a chat, and express any qualms they may have. Tony will be contacting a number of referees over the next few weeks to find out their intentions for the 2008 season.

Please help out in this very important area of our Referees’ Group, by contacting Tony if you are aware of anybody, male or female, who maybe interested in becoming a referee. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
