RAIS PROGRAMME

Rugby Administrators in Southland Secondary Schools are an employee of the School/Provincial Union. Their roles are funded jointly by Rugby Southland and New Zealand Rugby. The role of the RAIS is to strengthen rugby in Secondary Schools in Southland; by providing recruitment/retention initiatives for players and administration assistance for Rugby.  
 
Their responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coach and Management recruitment for teams.
  • Communicating development opportunities to coaches.
  • Creating and strengthening links with local clubs
  • Organising gear and equipment.
  • Player recruitment and retention initiatives
  • Player registration
  • Team entries

 
The RAIS initiative was trialed in 2003.The success of the trial led to the New Zealand Rugby Union investing $1million to support the initiative and employ 296 Rugby Administrators in Schools throughout New Zealand.
